Privacy Policy
SkinScore · Last updated 12 July 2026
SkinScore scores how well a food fits your skin goal. This policy explains what we collect, where it goes, and the choices you have. We built SkinScore to keep your scan history and profile on your device by default.
The short version
- Your scan history and skin profile are stored locally on your device. They are not synced to an account or kept on our servers for storage.
- When you scan a food, the photo or barcode is sent to our processing service and to a third-party AI provider to read the food's facts, then discarded. The Skin Score itself is computed on your device.
- We use privacy-respecting tools for crash reporting, anonymous usage analytics, and purchase management.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use your information to advertise to you.
Information you provide
- Your skin profile: the skin goal you choose, such as fewer breakouts or more glow, and basic preferences. This is kept on your device.
- Photos and barcodes you choose to scan: the camera captures only the food images or barcodes you point it at. A captured image is sent to be analyzed so the food's facts can be read, then the result is kept on your device. We do not retain a copy of the photo on our servers, and the image is used only to produce your result, never to identify the person.
Information collected automatically
- Diagnostics: crash reports and error diagnostics so we can fix problems. These do not include your scans.
- Usage analytics: which screens and features are used, tied to a randomly generated identifier, so we can improve the app. We avoid attaching your specific scans or skin goal to analytics events.
- Purchase information (through the App Store or Google Play): your subscription status and the device or store identifiers needed to manage it. We never receive your full card details.
How AI processing works
To read a food from a photo or a barcode, SkinScore sends the captured image or barcode to a secure processing service we operate, and onward to a third-party AI provider. The data is used only to extract the food's facts for that scan. We instruct our AI providers not to use this data to train their models, and the data is not retained for storage after the result is produced. The Skin Score, the reasons behind it, and the suggested swap are then computed on your device by a fixed rubric.
SkinScore is for information and education only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for a dermatologist or other qualified professional. Skin and diet responses vary between people, and scores are estimates.
Accounts
SkinScore works without an account, and there is no login in this version. The app uses an anonymous session, a random identifier with no name or email attached, only to authorize the AI analysis and to enforce the free-scan limit. You are not asked to register to use SkinScore.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that make SkinScore work: our AI processing provider, our crash-reporting and analytics partners, and purchase management through Apple and Google for billing. Each processes data only on our behalf and under their own privacy commitments. We do not sell your personal information.
Retention and deletion
Because your scan history and profile live on your device, deleting the app removes that data. Data sent for AI processing is transient and is not stored after your result is generated. You can also delete all of your data at any time from Settings, using "Delete my data". To request deletion of diagnostic or analytics data associated with your device, contact us at the address below.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the limited data we process, and to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will help. We comply with applicable privacy laws, including the GDPR and CCPA, to the extent they apply.
Children
SkinScore is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your country. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as SkinScore evolves. We will revise the date above when we do, and material changes will be reflected in the app.
