TextMeBack is an AI texting assistant for dating. This policy explains, plainly and without spin, what we do with your conversations, photos, and preferences. We have written it to be honest about the one thing many apps gloss over: generating a suggestion requires sending your text or photo to an AI service for a moment. We will not tell you "nothing ever leaves your phone," because that would not be true.

1. Overview

TextMeBack helps you write better dating messages, replies, openers, and bios, and read the tone of a conversation. To do that, it processes the content you choose to share. We collect as little as we can, store your history on your own device, and do not require an account or login.

This policy is effective on the date above. If we change it materially, we will update this page and the "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.

2. What we collect

Stored on your device

• Conversation text and screenshots you paste or upload for a suggestion.
• Photos you submit for a photo review.
• Your inputs and preferences, including bios you draft, tones you favour, the dating apps you tell us you use, and your saved results.

All of this is kept locally on your phone using on-device storage. There is no account, so this data is not associated with a server-side profile and is not synced to the cloud.

Sent for processing (temporarily)

When you ask for a suggestion, the relevant text or photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI processing service so a result can be generated. See section 3 for exactly how that works.

Diagnostics and purchases

• Crash and error diagnostics may be collected to keep the app stable. These are technical reports, not your conversation content.
• Anonymous product analytics, which features are used in aggregate, may be collected to improve the app. They are not tied to your dating content.
• In-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We receive purchase status to unlock features; we do not receive or store your card details.

What we do not collect

We do not access your contacts, calendar, or location, and we do not use your camera or microphone in the background. The website does not request those permissions either.

3. Transient AI processing

This is the part to read closely. To create a suggestion, your text or photo is sent to a secure processing service we operate, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider that generates the result. The result is returned to your device, and the input is then discarded. We do not retain server-side copies of your conversations or photos after the suggestion is produced, and we do not build a profile of you from them.

Because this step is required, it would be false to claim your data "never leaves your phone." What is true is that the data is sent only when you request a suggestion, is used only to generate that suggestion, and is not stored by us afterwards.

4. Retention and deletion

• On your device: your history stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
• In the cloud: inputs are processed transiently and discarded; we do not keep server logs of your chat content.
• To erase everything: clear data in the app (where available) or uninstall it. Because there is no account, uninstalling removes your local history.

5. Third-party services

We rely on a small set of providers to run the app. Each has its own privacy terms:

• A third-party AI provider, which generates the suggestions from the input you send.
• Crash-reporting and analytics partners, which collect technical diagnostics and aggregate, non-identifying usage data.
• Apple App Store and Google Play, which process subscriptions and payments under their own terms.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or marketing partners. We share data with the service providers in section 5 only as needed to operate the app. We may disclose information if required by law, for example a valid court order, but we cannot disclose conversation content we do not retain.

7. Children and international processing

TextMeBack is intended for adults using dating apps and is not for anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Our providers may process data on servers located outside your country; by using the app you consent to that processing.

8. Security

On-device data is stored using the platform's storage layer, and data in transit is protected with HTTPS and TLS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we limit what we collect and retain specifically to reduce risk.

9. Your rights

You can access, correct, and delete your information directly in the app, since your history lives on your device. You can opt out of optional analytics where the app provides a toggle. If you have a request we cannot fulfil from the device alone, contact us at the address below and we will help.
